Final Fall Photo Fling
Saturday, October 15 was a gorgeous day in Steamboat, and around town there were pockets of color that made me wonder if it wasn’t worth a final fall color photography fling to some of my favorite spots in the area. It started right in town on the Yampa River where the cottonwoods are in full color. Then, once again I decided to hike up the closed Buffalo Pass road to Rainbow Ridge to see if there was any aspen leaves left there. It’s been a strange year for the changing of the aspens, yet I was amazed with what I found. Not just pockets, but whole mountainsides still with abundant, vivid fall color. That inspired me to check out a Catamount Lake outlook by driving up on Rabbit Ears Pass. I found some aspens in full color, but the serendipity was a glorious sunset to finish off the day. Enjoy!
